Sometimes We Need A Break
Sometimes We Forget Life Should Be Lived.
It is very easy today running around, taking care of our families, children, grandchildren etc. to forget that we need to live our own lives as well. All too often we forget to take a break even if its an hour or two to just reconnect with the people in our lives.
Life goes by so quickly that it is easy to miss out on those moments that matter. Like walking on a beach looking up at the moon on a clear night. Playing a wild card game until you laugh so hard you cry. Or sitting back and appreciating the wonder of a sleeping grandchild or child and marveling at the miracle that they are.
My father always says “No matter what you do in life do what makes you happy, even if its basket weaving.” As a teenager I thought I understood what he was saying, but I find the old I get the more I realize there is more truth to that statement. We work and work to get ahead, sometimes competing with the Joneses but that really isn’t what's important.
We had my grandson this weekend, and he is so busy, I’m now thoroughly exhausted and he is only going to be one. Truthfully I wouldn’t trade one moment of the time I have with him, he is an adorable charmer, stubborn, sweet, and a joy. When he reached up to me with his little arms outstretched and said, “Nanna” I melted.
I know in my heart those moments are a gift, that they will never be here again, because we are always changing and growing as people. So stop and “smell the roses” as they say take time to just appreciate the blessings you have in your life, and take time to do for you. If it’s reading a book, watching a movie, or working in your garden just do it. It will add balance to your life and improve your ability to deal with the world you live in.
Its More then Just a Dream
- As a recently married 46 year old I am in the process of finishing my degree. Working to take care of my family and live my life.Blogging, working, writing, and chugging along like most of us. Who am I ? I am you, I am me, I am your mother, friend, the best and worst that we each have inside of us. I am a different perspective and find myself fascinated by the interesting moments in life.
